Veronica Shorr departs ACF of Yuma as Regional Director after nine impactful years
The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) announced today that Veronica Shorr, Regional Director for ACF of Yuma, will be departing after nine years of dedicated service to pursue new career opportunities.
“Veronica has been the face of ACF in Yuma and has elevated the power of philanthropy throughout the region,” said Anna María Chávez, Esq., President & CEO of the Arizona Community Foundation. “Her leadership has strengthened nonprofit organizations, expanded charitable giving, and addressed critical community needs. We are deeply grateful for her vision and commitment.”
During her tenure, Veronica championed countless initiatives that provided essential funding to local nonprofits, educated organizations on building endowments, and fostered collaboration to meet the community’s most pressing challenges. Under her leadership, ACF of Yuma now manages $24 million in charitable assets across 88 funds, including community and field-of-interest funds, scholarships, donor-advised funds, and nonprofit endowments.
“I feel confident in my transition because I leave you in great hands,” said Shorr. “Alex (Vieyra) is remarkable, dedicated, compassionate, and committed, and I know you will grow to admire and support him as you continue this important work together.”
Alejandro (Alex) Vieyra, a Yuma native who has served as Regional Advisor in Yuma for several months, will continue providing support for donors, nonprofits, and professional advisors and will serve as the primary contact for ACF in the region. He helps them grow charitable resources, support endowment building, and strengthen nonprofit sustainability.
Prior to joining ACF, Vieyra served as an Enrollment Coach supporting the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, guiding hundreds of students through their educational journeys and demonstrating a strong talent for mentoring, outreach, and relationship-building. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Arizona State University.
ACF will begin a search for a new Regional Director to lead the Yuma office, driving direction and growth for local nonprofits and donors while advancing the foundation’s mission in the region.
As ACF of Yuma enters this new chapter, the region will continue to benefit from the strong leadership of its Board of Advisors, a distinguished group of local leaders who bring deep expertise in business, finance, education, and civic engagement. Their collective experience ensures sound governance and strategic guidance for ACF’s work in Yuma.
