Jacob Schellinger joins ACF as General Counsel

The Arizona Community Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Jacob Schellinger as its first General Counsel, effective June 24. With a distinguished career dedicated to utilizing law and policy to improve the lives of people and communities, Schellinger brings invaluable experience to his new role at ACF.

Prior to joining ACF, Schellinger served as an attorney in the Tribal Law and Policy group at Lewis Roca, where he focused on advising tribal governments and entities on a wide range of legal and policy issues with a special emphasis on economic development. Schellinger has also led advocacy efforts for a national nonprofit organization and worked on Capitol Hill.

“Coupled with his extensive experience and deep commitment to advocacy, we are confident that Jacob will play a vital role in advancing our mission and strategy at the Arizona Community Foundation,” said Anna María Chávez, ACF President & CEO. “We look forward to the contributions Jacob will make in guiding our legal strategies and ensuring that we continue to serve the people of Arizona effectively.”

In addition to his professional work, Schellinger remains actively engaged in the community. He is a member of the Native American Bar Association of Arizona and the State Bar of Arizona’s Indian Law Section. He has also served as the attorney mentor for Lewis Roca’s Diversity Legal Writing Program interns in the firm’s Phoenix office. Schellinger stays connected with ASU’s Indian Legal Program and the ASU College of Law, where he has participated in alumni panels for admitted students and served as an attorney mentor for the ASU Law Advance Program.
