Scholarship Funds

Awarding scholarships to students is among the most rewarding kinds of philanthropy. You can create your own fund named for you or your family, or support an existing scholarship fund with your gift. Scholarship awards benefit traditional students from pre-school to high school, undergraduate and graduate work, as well as returning adults.

The inception of our QU Scholarship Fund was in 2012 and until we partnered with ACF, administering it seemed like a daunting task. The ACF team helped us decide what types of services were right for us, showed us how our funds' assets would be invested, helped us create the customized application for our scholarship, and ultimately gave us some extremely valuable guidance when the time came to select our first QU Scholar. Perhaps the biggest advantage to working with ACF is attaining 501(c)(3) status without having to go through the process ourselves.

Creating a Scholarship Fund

Diverse Young AdultsThe creation of a scholarship fund can be inspired by a desire to assist students who are first in their families to attend college or by personal interests as varied as culture, the arts or health sciences or as unique as honoring a loved one.

ACF offers flexible options for establishing a scholarship fund based on your desired level of involvement:

  • Designate a specific institution such as a college or vocational school to receive funding, with the school selecting annual award recipients.
  • Provide guidance to the ACF scholarship office regarding the goals of the scholarship program, leaving the selection process to ACF.
  • Participate as a member of the selection committee to review individual applications and vote on award recipients.

Whatever your goals are for awarding scholarships, ACF is here to help. If you are interested in starting a scholarship fund, visit Establishing a Fund for options and details.
