Arizona is home to many active and retired military Veterans. With support from generous donors, ACF Affiliates in Cochise and Yuma counties have undertaken initiatives to help meet the needs of these worthy individuals.
Veterans in Arizona
As Veterans return home from active duty and the front lines of battle, their physical, psychological and financial needs are becoming better understood and warrant a strong response from the philanthropic sector and the community.
Cochise Veterans project
Under the leadership of the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise, donors in Cochise County are pooling their gifts to support a field of interest fund to serve the needs of local Veterans and their families.
Agencies in Cochise County that provide services to Veterans
and their families participated in a survey aimed at determining the unmet needs of Veterans and the obstacles they face. The study reveals that Cochise County military Veterans are experiencing significant difficulty in accessing services, training, housing and job opportunities. These and other findings are outlined in the report entitled Cochise Veterans Project: Unmet Needs of Veterans [PDF, 607KB], provided by the Cochise College Center for Economic Research in partnership with the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise.
