Desert Mountain Foundation

The Desert Mountain Foundation provides the Desert Mountain community with tax-advantaged giving options to support our Scholarship Fund, Helping Hands Employee Hardship Fund and the Desperados.

  • Scholarship Fund. Provides scholarships to eligible Desert Mountain Club and HOA employees, their spouses, dependent children and grandchildren. We provide scholarships for students attending 4-year universities, community colleges and for professional development, and the money is paid directly to the school. The Scholarship Fund is managed by our Advisory Board, who is responsible for raising funds, soliciting applications, reviewing and approving applications and determining the awards. To date, we have awarded $442,710 in grants and scholarships. You can learn more about our scholarship program on the Scholarships page.
  • Helping Hands Employee Hardship Fund. This fund provides financial support to Desert Mountain Club and HOA employees and their dependents when they face significant, temporary financial hardship caused by a sudden, unexpected event beyond their control. It is managed by a Review Committee, who responds with urgency to requests for financial assistance and the tax-exempt funds are typically distributed to the employee within a few business days, based on their clearly documented need. Thanks to the generous donations of the Desert Mountain community, this tax-advantaged fund is currently fully funded.
  • Desperados. Established in 2011, the Desperados are responsible for building and enhancing the 25-miles of trails system at The Ranch at the northern end of Desert Mountain. They also support regional foundations like Friends of the Tonto National Forest, Desert Foothills Mountain Biking Association, Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, Arizona Trail Association, Wild at Heart Raptor Rescue, Cave Creek Museum, International Dark Sky Association and Friends of the Aqua Fria National Monument, The Sonoran Arts League, Arizona Game and Fish, Quiet Places International and McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Leadership

We work with the Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) to manage and administer the donations. They are a nonprofit organization that manages more than 1,300 charitable funds established by individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Arizona. They provide us with professional management and oversight. Our affiliation with ACF provides the advantages and economy of established centralized management and administrative resources, while our Advisory Board focuses its knowledge and expertise on our community’s unique needs. Donations to Desert Mountain Foundation are held and managed as part of a permanent endowment so we can maximize the value of your donations, to improve the welfare of our community today while also leaving a legacy for the future.
