Julie Bursch passed away on Sept. 29, 2015, at 94. She was raised in the desert town of Wendover, Utah, and later moved with her family to Sacramento, Calif., where she lived until she married Charles W. Bursch II. During WWII, she lived and worked as a graphic artist in Milwaukee while Charlie served in the U.S. Army in the European theater. After the war they settled in Davis, Calif., and raised three children, Sharon, Jim and Richard. When Charlie was named dean of students at Portland State College, the family moved to Portland.
Julia helped found Multnomah Cooperative Preschool and was teacher there for many years. She and Charlie were longtime members of Moreland Presbyterian Church where Julia served in many capacities. As an art graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, she was trained in many art media and settled on water-color as her medium of choice later in life. Julia loved to travel and did so passionately. Her eyes were always open to how she would paint what she saw.
Julia Bursch was a wonderful, inspiring person who loved people, music and art. Your gift will bless disadvantaged children, music education, and art.
