Mark B. Bonsall elected to ACF Board of Directors
MARK B. BONSALLThe Arizona Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently elected Mark B. Bonsall to the board. Mr. Bonsall was elected during the Board’s January meeting.
Bonsall has served as Chief Executive Officer and General Manager for Salt River Project since April of 2011. SRP is one of the largest publically owned electric and water utilities in the country with annual operating revenues of approximately $2.8 billion.
Prior to his role as CEO and General Manager, Bonsall served in various positions at SRP including Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. His career at SRP began in 1977 and he led much of the company’s expanded growth over the past four decades.
“Mark brings a significant amount of experience in both business and philanthropy. His understanding of our community will be a tremendous asset to the ACF Board,” said Shelley Cohn, chair of the ACF Board of Directors. “His unique set of professional and leadership skills and passion for the work ACF does in the community will make him a valuable board member.”
Bonsall remains active in industry affairs, having served as a member of the board and Chairman of the Western Systems Coordinating Council, and former member of the Board of Trustees of the North American Electric Reliability Council. Bonsall is a current board member, and formerly served as both Chair and Treasurer, for the Large Public Power Council. He sat on the Issuer Advisory Committee to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and served on the board and as Treasurer of the American Public Power Association.
In Arizona, Bonsall is committed to active community engagement and is a former member of the Phoenix Metro YMCA Board of Directors, where he served as Chairman. He is a past board member of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, and is a former member and Past Chair of the Board of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Greater Phoenix Leadership, is a member and former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Heard Museum, and is a former Chair of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Board of Directors. He also serves on the board of the Arizona Commerce Authority.
Mark Bonsall earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Arizona State University. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Bonsall resides in Phoenix with his wife, Mary, and they have three children.
Arizona Community Foundation Board members serve three-year terms, renewable up to two times.
