Statement in Response to Violence Against AAPI Community
We at the Arizona Community Foundation are deeply troubled by the increasing attacks against our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) donors and community partners across Arizona, and a trend now reported all across our country. Community is our “middle name,” and as a community-based, public charity we respect and support all members of our community, no matter who they are, where they live, or where they are from. Our commitment to communities of color is reflected every day in the generosity of our donors and the thousands of grants they make every year. For many years, we have also supported community-based giving collaboratives, such as the Arizona Asian Pacific American Women's Giving Circle, a highly regarded model of community philanthropy, and we stand with them and our other AAPI donors, grantees, and community partners to condemn all acts of hate and violence as it intensified so significantly against them this past year.
We also join with thousands of Arizonans who oppose acts of hate and violence in their communities and neighborhoods, and we are committed to the work of making Arizona free of discrimination and just for all who live here. Inclusion is a core value of the Arizona Community Foundation as we believe diverse voices, engagement, and equitable participation are essential to building and sustaining thriving communities.
Toward a better Arizona for everyone.
