The Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise will bring together staff, donors, and nonprofit organizations to celebrate the contributions of local philanthropists working to improve the quality of life in Cochise County at the annual Cochise Celebrates Giving community celebration. The event will take place Thursday, September 14, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union Community Room on the Sierra Vista Campus of Cochise College.
The third annual Carol Huddleston Volunteer of the Year and Nonprofit Organization of the Year will be named during the event. Nominations for both awards were sought and winners were selected by a committee of community members. The Legacy Foundation for Southeast Arizona will also announce their 2017 Responsive Grant Cycle Awardees.
This year, ACF of Cochise awarded over $58,000 in grants to 25 local community organizations and schools to support projects that will improve the lives of children, families and veterans as well as preserve the environment. These 25 organizations, listed below, will be recognized at Cochise Celebrates Giving.
Since inception, the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise has awarded nearly $8 million in grants and scholarships to local nonprofits and students. In the last fiscal year that ended March 31, 2017, $555,755 was awarded from funds associated with ACF of Cochise, including over $62,000 as part of its competitive grants process.
