Investment Pools and Performance

How we invest your gifts

The Arizona Community Foundation takes great care in the stewardship of gifts entrusted to us, managing assets to provide for the long-term charitable needs of our communities while earning a competitive rate of return.

Investment Pool Offerings

ACF offers five internal pools from which donors can choose.

Short Term Pool

Objective: To preserve capital with minimal volatility.

Intermediate Pool

Objective: To grow capital through a balance of public equity and fixed income funds with a moderate level of volatility.

Socially Responsible Pool

Objective: To grow capital long term through funds screened for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

Long Term Diversified Pool

Objective: To grow capital long term through a highly-diversified portfolio designed to reduce public market volatility through diversification and enhance returns through private market investments.

Please note that prior to April 1, 2019, this pool was identified as the Long Term Pool. All investments in the Long Term Pool have the same investment strategy; however, the pool is now identified as the Long Term Diversified Pool.

Long Term Aggressive Growth Pool

Objective: To maximize growth of capital long term through funds that emphasize public equities with less diversification and a high level of volatility.

For more information about our investment pools including asset allocation and investment expenses, please see our quarterly investment pool summary.

Investment Pool Performance

The primary goal of ACF’s Investment Pools is to achieve long-term (10+ years) absolute returns in excess of inflation, investment expenses, and spending. Additionally, ACF expects to achieve Pool returns equal to or greater than the returns of each Pool’s respective policy benchmark over rolling 5 and 10-year periods. ACF’s Investment Policy Statement speaks to these objectives, along with our investment beliefs, governance, and other relevant information.

The chart below illustrates preliminary monthly performance, net of underlying investment manager expenses, for the Arizona Community Foundation investment pools, as of March 31, 2019.
